Welsh Amateur Championship

Information

The Championship shall be open to male amateur golfers who meet the criteria as listed on page 2 of the entry form.

The Championship shall be decided by both stroke play and match play.  18 holes of stroke play on day one and day two followed by match play stages on day three, four and five.

The 32 players returing the lowest gross scores over the 36 holes stroke play stage will qualify for the match play stage of the Championship.  The match play stage will be conducted by automatic draw based on the qualifying position of each competitor; 1 will play 32 at the top of the draw and 2 will play 31 in the opposite half of the draw etc.

Each match play stage shall consist of one round of 18 holes, except that the final will be played over 36 holes.

In the event of a match being all square after 18 holes, or 36 in respect of the final, competitors shall continue to play until one shall gain a hole, then the match shall be considered won.

A maximum of 144 competitors shall play in the Championship.
