Harries Leads Welsh 1-2 at the Welsh Open Stroke Play

 

 

Becky Harries (Haverfordwest) led a strong Welsh challenge with victory at the Welsh Ladies Open Stroke Play at Ashburnham.  Harries (76, 75 and 69) finished two shots clear of 2nd place Chloe Williams (Wrexham) who finished with 74, 73 and 75.  This means that Harries collects 250 PING Order of Merit points with 150 for Williams.

 

Another strong performance from Amy Boulden (Conwy) saw her finish 4th and collect 80 PING points.  In 10th place was Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath) and tied 12th Lauren Hillier (Newport) who took 25 and 16.33 PING points respectively.

 

The next PING Ladies Order of Merit event is the Welsh Ladies Close Championship at Cardigan Golf Club from 20 – 22 May.

Boulden claims victory at the Helen Holm

 

 

Curtis Cup squad member Amy Boulden (Conwy) has returned from the Scottish Ladies Open Stroke Play with the Helen Holm Trophy after winning the event held at Troon over the weekend.

 

Boulden scored impressive rounds of 70, 72 and 73 to reach -10 and finish one shot ahead of her nearest rival and as a result collects 300 PING Order of Merit points.

 

Becky Harries (Haverfordwest) also performed well to finish as the next best placed Welsh player in 11th place, therefore claiming 75 PING points.

 

Two more Welsh players made the cut at Troon; Gemma Bradbury (Cottrell Park) finishing in 51st place and Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath) in 60th.  Both players collect 50 PING points.

 

 

Harries Wins At Tenby

 

Becky Harries (Haverfordwest) won the Tenby Ladies Scratch with rounds of 70 and 71 for a two round total of nine under par.  Harries opening round of 70 was matched by Amy Boulden (Conwy) but her second round 71 was enough to seal victory after Boulden’s 75. Harries collects 100 PING points while Boulden collects 60 points.

 

In third place came Katie Bradbury (Cottrell Park) with Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath) and Sam Birks (Wolstanton) coming in 4th and 5th respectively.

 

O’Connor 5th at Whittington

 

Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath) finished in a tie for 5th place at the Whittington Ladies’ Trophy after rounds of 75 and 71. O’Connor finished nine strokes behind the winner Elizabeth Mallett.

 

O’Connor earns 23.5 PING points for her 5th place finish.

 

The next best placed Welsh competitor was Sam Birks (Wolstanton) in tied 7th.

 

Welsh 1-2 at Leveret Trophy

 

Amy Boulden (Conwy) and Chloe Williams (Wrexham) claimed a Welsh 1-2 at the Leveret Trophy over the weekend of the 31st March.  Boulden scored a personal best of 64 and then followed it up with a 70 to claim 1st place while Williams finished 2nd with rounds of 68 and 68.

 

Boulden claims 100 points on the PING Ladies Order of Merit for 2012 with 60 for Williams.
