BOULDEN COLLECTS PING TITLE

 

Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) finished in 8th place at the Royal Birkdale Ladies Scratch Trophy with scores of 72 and 76 and collects the PING Ladies Order of Merit for 2010.

 

Sam Birks (Wolstanton) tied for 11th at Birkdale and adds 5 PING points to her total and finishes in 6th place on the PING Order of Merit.

 

Boulden has put together a string of impressive performances including finishing 2nd at the recent British Ladies’ Open Stroke Play Championship at Tenby, 2nd place at the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews after losing a play off, runner up at the Welsh Ladies Close Championship and winning the Bridget Jackson Bowl at Handsworth. In addition, Amy qualified for the Ricoh Ladies’ British Open and finished played all four rounds at the LET S4C Ladies Championship of Europe.

BOULDEN 2ND AT BRITISH STROKE PLAY

 

Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) continued her wonderful form with a 2nd place at the British Ladies Stroke Play Championship at Tenby Golf Club. Amy scored rounds of 68, 79 and 74 to finish just three strokes behind Pamela Pretswell of Scotland.  Boulden collects 250 PING points and has amassed an unassailable lead at the top of the PING Ladies Order of Merit with just one more counting event.

 

Gemma Bradbury (Cottrell Park) and Tara Davies (Holyhead) both finished in a tie for 28th place and collect 54 PING points each while Sam Birks (Wolstanton) tied for 30th and also collects 54 PING points.

 

Katie Bradbury (Cottrell Park) tied for 37th while Lucy Gould (Bargoed) finished in 40th, both players collect 50 points.

 

 

 

O’CONNOR 10TH AT ENGLISH

 

Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath) was the top Welsh player at the English Women’s Open Stroke Play Championship finishing in a tie for 10th after rounds of 71, 74, 81 and 69. O’Connor collects 72.5 PING points and maintains 3rd place on the order of merit.

 

Lucy Gould (Bargoed) added 65.5 PING points to her total after finishing tied for 13th with rounds of 78, 76, 69 and 74 while Sam Birks (Wolstanton) tied for 15th and Gemma Bradbury (Cottrell Park) tied for 19th.

 

Amy Boulden maintains her place at the top of the PING Ladies’ Order of Merit.

    

BOULDEN REACHES LAST 32 AT BRITISH

 

Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) reached the last 32 of the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship at Ganton.  After qualifying in 8th place Boulden defeated Welsh team mate Lucy Gould (Bargoed) by 2 and 1.  Boulden then lost on the final hole to Meghan Stasi of the USA in the last 32.

 

Boulden collects 90 PING points, while Gould collects 50 PING points for their performances at Ganton.

 

As a result of her performance at the British, Boulden takes over at the top of the PING Ladies Order of Merit while Gould moves into 6th place.

 

BOULDEN 8th AT EUROPEAN

 

Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) continued her impressive form by finishing in a tie for 8th at the European Ladies Individual Championship in the Czech Republic. Boulden scored rounds of 71, 73, 71 and 72 to finish on 1 under par. Boulden collects 95.2 PING points for her efforts in the Czech Republic and has opened an impressive lead at the top of the PING Ladies Order of Merit.

 

Gemma Bradbury (Cottrell Park), Tara Davies (Holyhead) and Becky Harries also competed at the European Individual but failed to make the 54 hole cut.

  

 

BOULDEN WINS BRIDGET JACKSON BOWL

 

Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) swept to victory at the Bridget Jackson Bowl at the Handsworth Golf Club rounds of 71 and 71 for a three stroke victory over Curtis Cup player Rachel Jennings and Jade Downes of England.  Boulden collects 100 PING points and increases her lead at the top of the PING ladies order of merit to over 170 points.

 

Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath) tied 4th with rounds of 72 and 75 to collect 25.67 points while Becky Harries (Haverfordwest) tied 7th and collects 16.25 points.  Llanishen’s Rachel Lewis finished in 11th place after scoring 74 and 75 to collect her first Order of Merit points of the season and the Bradbury sisters, Gemma and Katie tied 12th and each collect 2.4 PING points.

 

Other Welsh players who competed at Handsworth were Anna Carling and Sam Birks tied 17th, Jessica Evans tied 19th, Natasha Gobey 23rd and Myriam Hassan tied 28th.

AMY 2ND AT PLEASINGTON

 

Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) finished 2nd at the Pleasington Putter after rounds of 72 and 76. Boulden collects 60 PING points and closes the gap at the top of the Pinnacle Order of Merit to just over 14 points.

 

Kirsty O’Connor (Nelson) scored 76 and 74 for a share of 3rd place with 4 others and adds 27.2 PING points to her total.

 

Gemma Bradbury (Cottrell Park) finished in a tie for 9th and collects 14 PING points.

 

Tara Davies (Holyhead) retains her position at No 1 on the PING Ladies’ Order of Merit.

 

TARA 3rd AT IRISH

   

Tara Davies (Holyhead) finished 3rd at the Irish Ladies Open Stroke Play Championship with rounds of 74, 73 and 74 at the Douglas Golf Club. Tara collects 130 PING points and maintains her position at the top of the PING Ladies Order of Merit.

 

Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) scored rounds of 75, 76 and 78 for a share of 12th place and collects 53 PING points while Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath) and Gemma Bradbury finished in a tie for 25th and collect 50 points each. Anna Carling (Vale of Glamorgan) was the other Welsh player to make the cut at Douglas and finished tied for 34th and collects 50 PING points.

 

At the Frilford Heath Scratch Salver Katherine O’Connor tied for 3rd and adds 35 points to her total while Laura Watkins (Bicester) finished in a tie for 5th and collects 22 PING points.

 

Amy Boulden was the only player to finish in the points where she tied for 8th place and added 16 PING points to her total.

 

 

AMY IN PLAY OFF AT ST RULE

    

Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) narrowly missed on victory at the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews at the weekend.  Boulden shot rounds of 75, 77 and finished with a seven under 69 to force a play off with Scotland Laura Murray and Stacey Keating of Australia.  At the first extra hole Boulden lipped out for victory and then lost out to Murray at the second extra hole after Keating had been eliminated.  Boulden collects 100 PING points.

 

Tara Davies (Holyhead) continued her excellent season after tying for fourth place with rounds of 71, 76 and 75.  Davies collects 51.33 PING points and retains her pole position some 13 points in front of Boulden.

 

Gemma Bradbury (Cottrell Park) finished in 23rd place while Sam Birks (Wolstanton) finished in a tie for 33rd.

 

 

TARA WINS CLOSE AGAIN

 

Tara Davies (Holyhead) defended her Welsh Ladies Close Championship title successfully at the Glamorganshire Golf Club with a 2 & 1 victory over Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu).

 

After finishing 2nd in the qualifying stage to Becky Harries (Haverfordwest), Davies moved through to the final with victories over Myriam Hassan (Southerndown) in the quarter final and then 2007 Champion Kirsty O’Connor (Nelson).  Davies collects 150 PING points and retains her position at the top of the PING Ladies Order of Merit.

 

Amy Boulden progressed to the final with wins over Anna Carling (Vale of Glamorgan), Becky Harries on the 22nd and then Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath) by 2 & 1.  Amy collects 90 PING points while Katherine and Kirsty O’Connor each collect 70 PING points for reaching the semi finals.

 

 

BOULDEN 3RD AT WELSH STROKE PLAY

 

Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) finished in 3rd place on 4 under par at the Welsh Ladies Open Stroke Play. Boulden scored rounds of 72, 74 and 72 at Southerndown to miss out on a play off by two strokes from Nikki Foster and the eventual winner Julie Yang.

 

Boulden collects 100 PING points for her efforts and reduces Tara Davies’ lead at the top of the Ping Ladies Order of Merit to just 2.5 points. Davies continued her consistent season finishing in a tie for 7th place after rounds of 74, 73 and 78 to finish on 3 over par and collects 30 PING points.

 

Becky Harries (Haverfordwest) scored rounds of 79, 72 and 78 to finish in tie for 15th while Gemma Bradbury (Cottrell Park) shot rounds of 78, 73 and 79 to finish tied 18th.

 

                                                BRADBURY TOP WELSH PLAYER AT SCOTTISH

   

Gemma Bradbury (Cottrell Park) finished as top Welsh player at the Scottish Open Stroke Play Championship for the Helen Holm Trophy at Troon over the weekend.  Bradbury scored rounds of 76, 72 and 78 to finish tied in 17th place and collects 61 PING points.

 

Tara Davies (Holyhead), the current leader of the PING Order of Merit finished in a tie for 20th place after rounds of 77, 74 and 76 and adds 54.5 PING points to her total.

 

Three other Welsh players made the journey to Troon, Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) tied for 31st, Becky Harries (Haverfordwest) tied for 34th and Sam Birks (Wolstanton) tied for 37th.  All three players collect 50 PING points.

 

 

  DAVIES WINS AT TENBY

 

Tara Davies (Holyhead) continued her excellent form with a four stroke win over Amy Boulden (Llandudno, Maesdu) and Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath) at the Tenby Ladies Scratch Trophy.

 

Davies scored rounds of 82 and 68 for a total of 150 strokes and collects 100 PING Ladies Order of Merit points.  Boulden (80 & 74) and O’Connor (78 & 76) each earn 50 PING points.

 

Chloe Williams (Wrexham) fresh from a 5th place finish in the Scottish Girls U16 Championship scored rounds of 80 and 76 to finish in 4th place and collects 30 PING points.

   

  O’Connor 7th at Whittington

 

Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath) finished in a tie for 7th place at the Whittington Ladies’ Trophy after rounds of 75 and 79. O’Connor finished nine strokes behind the winner Alexandra Peters.

 

O’Connor earns 18 PING points for her 7th place finish.

 

Other Welsh players competing at Whittington were Stephanie Evans (Vale of Llangollen) 23rd, Sam Birks (Wolstanton) T28th, Emma Davies (Eaton) T39th and Lottie Turner (Aberdovey) 43rd.

 

DAVIES 3rd at Formby

Tara Davies (Holyhead) continued her fine form by finishing in 3rd place at the Formby Leveret. Davies scored rounds of 72 and 70 to finish five strokes behind winner Charley Hull.

 

Amy Boulden (Llandudno (Maesdu)) scored rounds of 73 and 72 to finish in 6th place.

 

Davies earns 40 PING points for her 3rd place finish while Boulden collects 22 points for 6th.
