MAND TOP BOY AT THE CLWYD OPEN

 

Otto Mand (Greenmeadow) finished as the top junior golfer and in tied 2nd place overall at the Clwyd Open at Wrexham and Prestatyn.  Mand scored rounds of 74, 70, 69 and 74 to collect 100 Hugh James points.

 

Other juniors to score valuable Hugh James points at the Clwyd were Oliver Mottram (St Pierre) who finished tied 15th and collects 16.33 points along with Nathan Humphreys (Monmouth) and Adam Wilson (Mold) who finished tied 20th and each collect 13 points.

 

Otto Mand confirms his position at the top of the Hugh James Order of Merit.

 

The next event is the North Wales Boys Open at Rhuddlan and Abergele on 19th and 20th May.

5th Place Finish for Henry James at Fairhaven

 

Henry James (Kidderminster) was one of two Welsh players to make the cut at the Fairhaven Trophy and went on to finish with two fantastic rounds to claim 5th place. James produced rounds of 73, 74, 71, and 71 to end just 4 shots off the winner and claim 75 Hugh James Order of Merit points.

 

Greg Tickell (Hallamshire) finished in tied 31st place with rounds of 73, 78, 75 and 80 and collects 4 Hugh James points.

 

James now moves up to 3rd place in the overall standings behind Evan Griffith (North Wales) and Otto Mand (Greenmeadow).

 

HAU BEST BOY AT TENBY

 

Delon Hau (Vale of Glamorgan) was the best placed Welsh boy at the weather affected Trubshaw Cup at the weekend.   Hau tied 8th with rounds of 79 and 74 leaving him with 15.3 Hugh James points before the poor weather led to the cancellation of the second days play at Ashburnham.   

 

Evan Griffith (North Wales), Oliver Mottram (St Pierre) and Adam Wilson (Mold) were tied 11th so each get 11.5 points with James Casey (Newport) taking home 3.13 points for his tied 19th finish.

 

NOTE :  Due to the cancellation of play before day 2 of the Trubshaw it was decided to award 50% of the usual Hugh James Order of Merit points for the event.

 

GRIFFITH WINS CENTRAL WALES BOYS

 

Evan Griffith (North Wales) claimed the Central Wales Boys at Borth & Ynyslas with rounds of 76 and 70.  Griffith claims the 100 Hugh James points.  In 3rd place was Zach Galliford (Borth & Ynylas) who takes home 40 Hugh James points.

 

At the Peter McEvoy Trophy, Jordan Jones (Delamere Forest) scored rounds of 74, 70, 76 and 69 to finish as the highest placed Welsh Boy in 11th place. Jones collects 39 Hugh James points while Henry James (Kidderminster) and Tom Young (Hawkestone Park) finished in 19th and 23rd place respectively which gives James 15 points and Young 9 points.

  

    

MAND TOP BOY AT PUTTER

 

Otto Mand (Greenmeadow) finished in a tie for 14th place at the Duncan Putter after rounds of 72, 72, 75 and 68 and collects 100 Hugh James points.

 

Delon Hau was the 2nd best junior at the Putter finishing tied 16th and collecting 60 points.

 

Other promising performances came from Ryan Thomas (Vale of Glamorgan), Zach Galliford (Borth & Ynyslas) and Oliver Mottram (St Pierre) who all made the cut.
