PUGH RUNNER UP AT WELSH AMATEUR
Oliver Baker (Cardiff), David Boote (Walton Heath) and Oliver Dickson (Pennard) all reached the last 16 of the Welsh Amateur Championship at Aberdovey and each collects 60 Hugh James points. Rhys Pugh (Vale of Glamorgan) once again showed that he is Wales’ top junior by reaching the final narrowly losing out to Jason Shufflebotham on the last green.
Four other juniors also reached the last 32; Zach Galliford (Borth & Ynyslas), Toby Hunt (St Mellons), Sam McCarthy (Vale of Glamorgan) and Patrick Mullins (Whitchurch) who all collect 40 Hugh James points.
Rhys Pugh has increased his lead at the top of the Hugh James Boys’ Order of Merit to over 200 points.
BOOTE WINS WELSH BOYS
David Boote (Walton Heath) won the Welsh Boys title at Cradoc and collects 250 Hugh James points. Despite qualifying in 16th spot, Boote moved through the draw defeating 1st seed and Welsh Boys Stroke Play Champion Ryan Thomas (Vale of Glamorgan) 6&5, then Patrick Mullins (Whitchurch) by 2 holes followed by defending champion Oliver Baker (Cardiff) by 2 holes and in the final he defeated Oliver Dickson (Pennard).
Ryan Thomas was in great form during the stroke play scoring rounds of 67 and 69 to claim the Welsh Boys Stroke Play title by two strokes from Jack Bush (Morlais Castle) who shot 69 and 69 to finish on 4 under par.
Rhys Pugh (Vale of Glamorgan) retains the top spot on the Hugh James Order of Merit while David Boote moves up to 4th and Ryan Thomas climbs to 11th.
PUGH TOP BOY AT GOLD CROSS
Rhys Pugh (Vale of Glamorgan) finished in a tie for 4th place at the David’s Gold Cross after rounds of 74, 75, 71 and 76. Pugh adds 55 Hugh James points to his total and increases his lead at the top of the table.
David Boote (Walton Heath) continued to impress after his 9th place at the European Boys with 10th at Harlech after rounds of 74, 74, 75 and 77 and collects 28 Hugh James points.
Other juniors scoring at the Gold Cross were Zac Galliford (Borth & Ynyslas) and Delon Hau who tied for 11th and collect 25 points each, Oliver Mottram (St Pierre) returned to form finishing tied for 13th and collects 21 Hugh James points and Patrick Mullins (Whitchurch) finished in a tie for 13th.
HAU 6th AT TUCKER
Delon Hau (Vale of Glamorgan) finished as the top junior at the Tucker Trophy after rounds of 76, 67, 73 and 72 and collects 44 Hugh James points.
Whitchurch’s Paddy Mullins was one stroke back on 289 strokes and collects 38 points, Alex Baker (Vale of Glamorgan) tied for 10th and collects 26 points while Oliver Mottram (St Pierre) showed a return to form finishing in 13th place collecting 22 Hugh James points.
Other juniors collecting Hugh James points were Chris Edwards (Mold) tied 17th and collects 14.5 points while St Mellons Toby Hunt finished in a tie for 19th and collects 8.33 points.
BAKER TOP BOY AT ABERCONWY
Oliver Baker (Cardiff) finished as the top junior golfer at the Aberconwy after rounds of 78, 83, 73 and 69 to finish in a tie for 13th earning 21 Hugh James points. Ryan Haskell (Celtic Manor) completed the four rounds in a tie for 15th and collects 17 points while Evan Griffiths (North Wales) and Ryan Thomas (Vale of Glamorgan) tied for 18th and collect 13.5 points each.
Rhys Pugh maintains his position at the top of the Hugh James Boys’ Order of Merit.
EXAMS A PRIORITY FOR WALES’ JUNIORS
No Welsh Juniors scored any Hugh James points at the Welsh Open Youths Championship at Clyne.
The Hugh James Boys’ Order of Merit remains unchanged.

MAND WINS NORTH WALES BOYS OPEN
Otto Mand (Dewstow) won the North Wales Boys Open at the weekend by a single stroke over Welsh Boys Champion Oliver Baker (Cardiff) after rounds of 75, 73, 73, 73 to collect 150 Hugh James points. Mand’s performance takes him into 3rd place in the Hugh James Boys Order of Merit behind Jack Bush (Morlais Castle) and current leader, Rhys Pugh (Vale of Glamorgan).
Oliver Baker collects 90 Hugh James points and is in 4th pace on the table while the Celtic Manor’s Ryan Haskell collects 60 points for his 3rd place finish after rounds of 73, 75, 75 and 75.
PUGH WINS IRISH, THOMAS TOP BOY AT CLWYD
While Rhys Pugh (Vale of Glamorgan) was winning the Irish Open Stroke Play at Royal Dublin, Ryan Thomas (Vale of Glamorgan) finished as the top junior golfer at the Clwyd Open at Wrexham and Prestatyn. Thomas scored rounds of 77, 69, 73 and 74 to finish in a tie for 10th to collect 27 Hugh James points.
Other juniors to score valuable Hugh James points at the Clwyd were Ryan Haskell (Celtic Manor) who finished tied 12th and collects 23 points, Adam Wilson (Mold) who scored 74, 73, 75, 73 to finish tied 14th and collect 19 points and Delon Hau (Vale of Glamorgan) who finished tied for 18th and collects 13 Hugh James points.

BUSH AND MAND WIN AT SOUTH WALES BOYS
Jack Bush (Morlais Castle) added the South Wales Boys Championship to the Central Wales Boys after defeating Evan Griffith (North Wales) by 2&1 in the final at Wenvoe Castle. Bush collects 100 points while Griffith collects 60 points for the Match Play and a further 8.33 for finishing in a tie for 11th in the Stroke Play.
