PUGH IS THE CHAMPION
Rhys Pugh (Vale of Glamorgan) has capped a fine season by winning the Hugh James Boys Order of Merit. Pugh started the season with wins at the Peter McEvoy Trophy, the Fairhaven Trophy and then the Clwyd Open which opened up such a commanding lead that no one was able to catch him in the hunt for the Order of Merit. In addition, Pugh has this week been selected to represent Great Britain & Ireland in the Jacques Leglise Trophy at Castelconturbia Golf Club near Milan where he will be the playing captain.
At the Boys Amateur Championship Oliver Baker (Cardiff), Oliver Mottram (Dewstow) and David Boote (Walton Heath) made it through the stroke play qualifying rounds but all lost in the last 64. Baker and Mottram lost on the final hole while Boote lost out on the 20th.
