Conditions

The LGU Medals, as we know them, will cease to exist from 31 January 2009.

The GUW will continue running medal competitions within clubs from 1 February 2009 but there will be some changes to the conditions of competition to make playing medal competitions more attractive and to fit in with the lifestyle of today’s women golfers.

The GUW Club Medals:

  • The GUW year will run from 1 January to 31 December each year.
  • Clubs must run a minimum of four each year. There is no maximum number. The minimum will allow the player with the best four nett scores returned in the GUW year to qualify for one of the Regional Medal Finals.
  • No alternate days for GUW Medals. Each medal will be separate and anyone can play on any medal day. To allow for maximum flexibility for your members it is recommended that GUW Medals are organised on weekdays and weekends. Players who wish to change from their usual day will no longer have to give written notice.
  • No Silver and Bronze division for GUW Medals.  One competition, one field, one winner.

The GUW Regional Medal Finals:

·        There will be seven Regional Finals.

·        The player from each club with the best four nett scores returned during the GUW year, together with the runner-up, will be eligible to enter one of the seven regional finals. Regional Finals will be held during June each year.

·        The top 8 players at each Regional Final will qualify for the GUW Final played in August.

Information to Clubs:

  • The GUW Club Medal winner’s memento will be sent out in August , to be presented in December.
