The Captain plays a key selection and support role for our players and teams at identified competitions both in Wales and internationally. We are lucky to have highly qualified and experienced Captains in place for 2017.
Chloe has been a part of an Olympic Bronze medal winning GB Team as a competing athlete at two Olympic Games in London 2012 and Beijing 2008 with the women’s hockey team and making 162 senior international appearances since 2003, including attending World Cups, Commonwealth Games, European championship.
In addition to her involvement with Olympic Hockey, Chloe has been a strong competitor in Amateur golf across all levels of competition where she played at an International level in 2003. She has more recently competed in the English, Welsh, Scottish and British Amateur championships in 2013 and 2014, with her best finish 11th at the British Ladies Amateur Open in Prestwick. Currently a year 1 PGA Assistant attached to Celtic Manor Golf Resort.
Chris has been involved with the Golf Union in a variety of roles since 2008. These roles have included: Regional Coaching convener, Boys selector, Team manager for various boys matches and Team Manager for the Men’s European Championships and Home internationals.
Chris has been a selector for the Welsh Girls and Ladies teams since 2012 and was the Welsh Girls Team Manager for the 2014 Home Internationals in Ireland.
In her professional life, she works for an independent communications consultancy whose golfing clients have included The Celtic Manor Resort, Wales Open, the European Tour and Ryder Cup 2010.
Chris has been a member of Newport Golf Club for over forty years, a Welsh junior international between 1976 and 1978 and Monmouthshire County Champion in 1977.
As a retired solicitor and District Judge, Richard has been a member of Royal Porthcawl Golf Club since 1982 while previously being a member at Machynlleth, Glamorganshire, Cottrell Park and Aberdovey Golf Clubs
Richard served as a Council Member on the WGU/GUW from about 2000 to 2009, serving mostly on the Championship Committee, but towards the end chairing the Development and Communications Committee and therefore sitting on the Executive Committee. Richard qualified as a Referee at the R&A Rules Schools in both 2000 and 2005 and officiated at various GUW events. Richard has attended the Welsh Seniors Championships at Aberdovey, for probably the last 18 years, initially as a Referee, but for the last 14 years as a player. Richard aims to compete in a variety of Open events, including the Glamorgan County Seniors, South Wales Seniors, and IMS Competitions.
Richard has previous captained the Welsh Team in 2007 in the Portugal Cup of Nations and in 2008 captained the Welsh Youth Team against Ireland. Richard was the Secretary of the Welsh Solicitors Golfing Society for 15 years, captaining them in 3 European Championships.
