Enoch 4th at Gold Cross

 

Ben Enoch returned to form at the St David’s Gold Cross finishing in 4th place and extends his lead at the top of the Boys Order of Merit to over 300 points. Matthew Moseley (Carmarthen) finished in a tie for 13th with scores of 72, 77, 72 and 74 and earns 20 Order of Merit points.

 

At the South Wales Boys Open Stroke Play Matthew Tweedell of Blackwell was victorious at Cradoc with rounds of 69 and 71 while Max Broadfield of Langland Bay was 2nd and collects 30 points.

 

The next event is the Welsh Boys Championship at Newport Golf Club (22 – 24 July)

McLister 10th & Rees 13th at Tucker Trophy

 

Ross McLister (Cardiff) and Thomas Rees (Creigiau) finished in 10th and 13th places respectively at the Tucker Trophy played over the Newport and Whitchurch courses. McLister now moves into 11th place on the Order of Merit while Rees is in 14th place.

 

Ben Enoch (Truro) retains his lead at the top of the Order of Merit despite missing the Tucker and returns to action at the South Wales Boys and then  the Welsh Boys where he will be looking to improve on his runner up spot of 2007.

 

The next event is the South Wales Boys Open Stroke Play at Cradoc and then the Welsh Boys Championship at Newport Golf Club (22 – 24 July)

 

EVANS 8th AND NUGENT 9th IN ABERCONWY TROPHY

 

Gareth Evans (Wrexham) and Chris Nugent (Fulford Heath) finished in 8th and 9th places respectively at the Aberconwy Trophy played over the Llandudno Maesdu and Conwy (Caernarvonshire ) courses. Nugent retains 4th place in the table but is closing the gap on Rhys Pugh and Llion Lloyd-Kerry who remain in 2nd and 3rd. Evans collected 34 points his first of the season.

 

Ben Enoch (Truro) retains his lead at the top of the Order of Merit despite missing the Aberconwy because he is in Italy representing Wales in the European Men’s Team Championship.

 

 

 

NUGENT TOP JUNIOR AT YOUTHS

 

Chris Nugent (Fulford Heath) finished in 7th place at the Welsh Open Youths at the Vale of Llangollen and he collects 29 points on the Boys Order of Merit. Matthew Moseley (Carmarthen) scored rounds of 78, 67, 72 and 74 to finish on 3 over par for the tournament and a tie for 9th place and collects 21 Order of merit points.

 

Rhys Pugh (Vale of Glamorgan) was steady again and finished in a tie for 15th with rounds of 73, 70, 74 & 77 and adds 14.5 Order of Merit points to his total which puts him in 2nd place on the list.

 

Ben Enoch (Truro) retains his lead at the top of the Order of Merit despite missing the Open Youths having taken up and invitation to compete at the Celtic Manor Resort Wales Open where he shot rounds of 72 and 75.

 

ENOCH 15TH AT WELSH STROKE PLAY

 

Ben Enoch (Truro) finished in a creditable 15th place at the Welsh Open Stroke Play at Conwy. Enoch’s rounds of 74, 78, 72 and 81 and he collects 50 points on the Boys Order of Merit.

 

Enoch has extended his lead at the top of the table to over 230 points. Richard Bentham (Celtic Manor) was the only other Junior to make the cut at Conwy and gets 30 Order of merit points.

 

The next event is the Welsh Open Youths Championship at Vale of Llangollen Golf Club from 31 May - 1 June.

 

KERRY WINS NORTH WALES OPEN

 

Llion Lloyd Kerry (Royal St David’s) won the North Wales Boys Open at Rhuddlan and Abergele with rounds of 72, 72, 72 and 71 for a four stroke victory over Michael Evans (Clays). Kerry picks up 100 Order of Merit points while Evans collects 60 points.

 

In third place came Chris Nugent (Fulford Heath) and Rhys Pugh (Vale of Glamorgan) on 292 strokes each collecting 35 points. Oliver Lewis of Ludlow was 5th while the biggest move on day two came from West Mon’s Anthony Cadwallader who scored 68 and 70 at Abergele to finish in 6th place.

 

Ben Enoch remains at the top of the Order of Merit while Kerry moves from 9th to 2nd after his victory.

 

ENOCH WINS CLWYD

 

Ben Enoch (Truro)continued his excellent form by winning the Clwyd Open and collects 150 points. Enoch’s rounds of 71, 69, 70 and 68 gave him a four round total of 278, 6 under par for a two stroke victory over Joe Vickery (Newport) and Jason Shufflebotham (Prestatyn).

 

Rhys Pugh, last year’s winner of the Clwyd Open was the only other Junior to score points at the Clwyd after firing rounds of 75, 74, 72 and 75 for a four round total of 296 and collects 17 points. Other promising performances came from Matthew Moseley (Carmarthen) T17 and Luke Jackson (Mold) 19th.

 

Enoch has now increased his lead at the top of the Boys Order of Merit to over 200 points.

 

The next event is the North Wales Boys Open at Rhuddlan and Abergele Golf Clubs on 17/18 May.

 

 

 

ENOCH TOP JUNIOR AGAIN

 

Ben Enoch (Truro) finished as the top junior at the Trubshaw Cup at Tenby and Ashburnham in 7th place which earns him 38 Order of Merit points.

 

Other juniors who finished in the points were Jack Guerreiro (Tenby) T11th, Rhodri Harston (Felixstowe Ferry) T13th, Rhys Pugh (Vale of Glamorgan) T18th and Matthew Mosely (Carmarthen) T20th collecting 25, 13.5 and 6 points respectively.

 

The next event is the Clwyd Open at Prestatyn and Wrexham Golf Clubs on 10/11 May.

 

 

ENOCH WINS CENTRAL WALES

 

Ben Enoch (Truro) continued his excellent early season form by winning the Central Wales Boys by a single stroke from Llanwern’s James Zanotti. Enoch collects 50 points while Zanotti collects 30 points. Enoch scored 77 at Borth & Ynyslas and followed up with a 70 at Aberystwyth while Zanotti was round in 75 and 73.

 

In joint third place on 151 strokes were Matthew Moseley (Carmarthen) and Sam Dix (Ham Manor) while Royal St David’s Llion Kerry showed a return to form by finishing in 5th place.

 

At the Peter McEvoy Trophy, Cardiff’s Ross McLister was the only Welsh player to make the cut and finished in a tie for 29th collecting 2.66 points

 

The next event is the Trubshaw Cup at Tenby and Ashburnham Golf Clubs on 26/27 April.

 

ENOCH 3rd AT PUTTER

 

Ben Enoch (Truro) produced an excellent last round of 68 at the Duncan Putter to finish in 3rd place on a total of 288 strokes. Enoch’s 3rd place finish puts him at the top of the Boys Order of Merit on 80 points.

 

Also on form was 14 year old Rhys Pugh who finished in a tie for 8th place after rounds of 72, 74, 71 and 75 for a total of 292 strokes. Pugh collects 32 points on the Order of Merit and is in 2nd place behind Enoch.

 

Matthew Phythian (Rhondda) was the only other Junior to make the cut at the Putter and finished in a tie for 22nd place gaining 20 points

 

The next event is the Peter McEvoy Trophy at Copt Heath on 16/17 April followed by the Central Wales Boys at Aberystwyth and Borth & Ynyslas on 19/20 April.
