COURSE RATING

Download a Form of Alteration here.

1. Requests for the allocation of a Standard Scratch Score must be submitted to the Golf Union of Wales.  Each request must be accompanied by a Certificate of Measurement.

2. When alterations have been carried out to a course increasing or decreasing its length the Affiliated Club must submit a Form of Alteration to the Union . A Certificate of Measurement is required only for the altered hole or holes.

The accurate measurement of each hole from all tees is essential  therefore it is a requirement that on each tee a permanent distance point is installed. The distance point shall be placed not less than 4 yards from the back of each tee.

The Certificate of Measurement,  which shall be undertaken by a competent person, shall:

a) show the length of each hole and the total playing length of the course for each set of tees used, or intended to be used for Qualifying Competitions.

b) the type of measuring device used to establish the measurement

c) identify any non-compliance, such as incorrectly sited permanent markers or the absence of such markers.

Further information regarding course measurement may be found in the CONGU UHS Manual Appendix A, page 50.
